As a WHM/cPanel server admin of many years, I have become frustrated with customer websites (mostly WordPress) not being updated, eventually becoming vulnerable, and then getting hacked. Most customers are oblivious to the fact that they need to update on a regular basis.

There are good security solutions often mentioned here on WebHostingTalk like CSX, Imunify and cpGuard. (We use CSX on all our servers and find it indispensable.) While they are great at intercepting attacks or cleaning up afterwards, they do not offer much help in getting customers to update and preventing the hacks in the first place.

To solve the problem, I have developed the CVE Monitor plugin for WHM that scans websites for known vulnerabilities in the CVE Database. This is helping us communicate the vulnerability facts to our customers, and it has worked wonders in getting rid of major vulnerabilities on our servers.
